Welcome to the seventh issue of the Mac Action CD-ROM.
Before you start using it, please read through the disc pages inside the magazine, as they contain important information to help you get the most out of this disc.
However, if you can't wait to get started, place the contents of the folder entitled Place in your System Folder into your System Folder and then restart your Mac. This will then ensure that you have the latest versions of QuickTime and the Sound Manager.
Now that all Mac Action folders are emblazoned with their own custom icons, you may decide that, after using the disc for the first time, you would prefer to access it more quickly. In fact, you can make folders open up from a CD-ROM almost as fast as from a hard disk if you are prepared to lose the new icons, and have your Mac's default ones displayed instead.
To do this open up the folder CD Icon Killer (inside the Utilities folder) and drop the extension CDIconKiller into your System Folder, and restart your Mac. All CD-ROM icons will be replaced with default icons and your CD-ROM drive will whizz along! To disable CD Icon Killer, remove CDIconKiller from your Extensions folder and restart your Mac. Or, if you have System 7.5, you can use Extensions Manager to temporarily switch it off. Please read the notes accompanying the program for full details.
Have fun with this disc – and please let me know if you have any suggestions for future discs.
